Character name: Furude Rika
Age: 10 (has lived for over 100 years in resets of June 1983)
Canon: Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni
Canon point: I will openly admit, this is a hard question to answer because of the multiple timelines so we the viewers are not sure what the actual order for Rika they were. But I will say that she was taken from right after 'Minagoroshi-hen' (Massacre chapter) but before she could fully commit herself to trying one more time to get the happy ending she wants.

Background: A Link to the Wiki on her!

Personality: To describe Rika's personality is to explain duality. Rika is both a child and an adult, cute but respected as a leader.

Personality she presents
In the Demoned Away Chapter, both VN and Anime, she really doesn't appear much. What one does see of her personality, she is a cute little girl. She would make sounds like 'Miii' and 'Nipaa', play games and work at the Furude Family shrine. Keiichi refers to her multiple times as a really good girl. But this chapter also introduces when Rika is in the game club she is actually having a lot of fun, following the ideals of the club to a T (which is pretty much to be merciless and do everything you can to win the games). She had shown throughout various timelines that she can be jokingly, naively 'perverted'. This is normally added on as a tactic to add a little more light hearted humor to the situation going on. (For example, in the anime only 'Cat Killing Chapter') Due to the nature of the game club and the penalties for losing, Rika has shown throughout many arcs that she is willing to perform embarrassing acts, such as dressing up in costumes and parading around town, or perform tasks like waiting on the winner of the game she had lost.

But even with that light-heartedness, she had shown to be an observant girl. In the Watagnashi Chapter she notices who goes into the storage room, and even calls Keiichi out on it later on, playing along with his confession by using the term 'cat' instead of him and Mion. In the Curse-Killing chapter, she is aware of Satoko's abuse and her history with CPS. She knows when to interject herself into a varity of situations, be it a meeting among the town leaders (which as a child she doesn't have to attend, but as the only living Furude she has the right and duty to attend and comment), or when it comes to protecting Keiichi from the punishment he might get from "'Oyashiro'" for entering the shed during the Watagnashi festival.

Her 'True' Personality

This personality she rarely shows to the rest of the world, normally when she shows it her voice deepens and she takes on a much serious perspective. For example, when she was talking to Akasaka about going home to prevent him suffering a great sadness, and when she was telling him about the future deaths/her own death. She seems to enjoy using this as a tactic to catch people off guard. She is exhausted with the different worlds she has been in. This personality she shows when she feels like she needs to make a point to the individual she is talking to. This Rika is soul-tired, and more her mental age. She is honest and may speak riddles, trying to gain the 'best' ending.

ETA 3/26 With how both of these personalities work, often times Rika is presenting the more childish facade while on the inside she is much more serious than a 10 year old should be. She cares deeply for her friends and Hinamizawa, which is why she is so willing to keep on trying and trying to get the 'happy ending' she desires so much. She is getting burnt out on living this June so many times over though, which is why she rarely gets true enjoyment from something. One of those things being the game club at school and how that helps remind her on why she keeps on going through with this ‘game’. Even as a small child she would sometimes show her more serious personality when predicting the future. But even with the true personality and her presented personality, she is still a little girl. One of the stronger developments of that is when taking a lesson from Sakoto and telling Sakoto to ask for help, Rika eventually does the same when it comes to the worlds and the timelines.

But, also mentioning the world and timelines, it would also be a good idea to introduce who Rika HAS become- for example as Frederica Bernkastel, who is the overall cumulation of Rika’s journal over the timelines and worlds when Rika started to lose interest in all those worlds and giving up’, which could explain her ‘true personality’ being a reflection of Frederica (who claims she is not Rika, but at the same time is a version of Rika).

Rika has shown she wants to avoid the ‘curse of the perfect world’ in which the event of Higurashi (such as Keiichi coming to town) never occur because she doesn’t get to be with her friends and Hinamizawa would be submerged. Rika understands that to get the world she most desires, she does have to infact suffer at times.

Wish: For the impossible to happen- my friends and town escape this endless June happily and safely.

Rika chose to make this wish because after waiting for so long for the miracle to come, when Kyuubey appeared she was more than willing to make a deal with the devil in this moment of weakness. I picked this after a particularly violent timeline she had been in where she thought her miracle would happen. But alas, it didn't, so waiting in between the timelines having this offered to her on a golden platter- she carefully thought this wish over. She didn't mention herself because she knew a wish so good would come at a cost- and with what she was told the cost would be her becoming a magical girl in a new world. So it would only be logical to make a wish where everyone could finally move on. A terribly big wish, and she knew it. But after working so hard for so long, she wanted a break- a guaranteed victory for once.

Passive ability: Luck increase, being around her raises the chance of good outcomes happening. *

This ties into the concept of her wishing for the impossible to happen, because even though when she made the wish wording it as 'impossible' she still kept on trying hoping for that one timeline where the miracle would happen. With this passive ability, it increases the chances of such a thing to happen to her and people around her. I feel like for the ability to really work, the person who is having it act upon them must realize there is a chance (no matter how minuscule) for it to happen.

ETA 3/26 Now the percentage of the luck increase is really the bare minimum one could get at her current strength of magical girl. For example, if someone needs to pass a test they haven't studied for, being around her would help with an extra percentage point or two via pure luck. As she becomes stronger, her passive ability would increase also- so it might move say from a 2 point increase in grade to something higher and higher until she is at max strength. But there still has to be a possible chance of success for it to work (Example of things that her passive ability would not work on for example 'Getting a two year old to pass the SATS/ACT with perfect scores' because they wouldn't even know how to write their own name! So the luck that surrounds her would not help with that at all.) There is a possible downside of relying too much on it or expecting too much of it at certain levels of strength. At its current strenght it would be where the luck would barely help scrape by/give the person a little bit of a buffer to succeed(or win if that is what they are looking for)

Active ability: Escaping, this ability allows her to escape any situation she is in, as long as there is even a percentile of a percentile chance of her being allowed to do so. *

This ties into her wish because she wished for her town and friends to escape the endless June. I chose this to be her active ability because in short, it is a run away ability. That if something was going to happen to her she could focus on making her escape happen (also tying into the passive ability of 'luck increase') Now, this escape may not be something like 'poof you're out of the situation Rika. GG' but something more contrived, such as being in a fight and getting caught in an explosion- she could escape the explosion because somehow a tree blocked the path of damage from her- but the tree still had a branch fall off and hit her.

ETA 3/26 The Active ability to escape would be one that would need a lot of thinking on from Rika's part. This ability would also come with downside that if she puts herself back into that particular situation she could not escape from again (unless of course, as she becomes stronger as a magical girl). So working off the previous example of escaping an explosion if she worked it as 'I just want to escape' she could end up in a multitude of different escapes- she could be out of the explosion yes, but she could also be in a situation where she is out of what caused it (such as a fight) and if she goes back to the fight- she couldn't use that active ability again for the duration of it. She could also manipulate it where if she is in say, a conversation she wants to leave, using that ability a third party might interrupt the conversation allowing her an out- but again, if she ends up back in the conversation- she would be forced to see it through to the end.

Weapon: Ceremonial Hoe

Sample: Meeting Sandy at the Test Drive Meme
I chose this as a sample because I felt like I did a good job portraying Rika's 'mask' and 'True' personality while interacting with someone.

Applicant Notes:
* Both of these abilities are also tied into Rika's connections to Frederica Bernkastel and Bernkastel (Of Umineko no Naku Koro ni). The former understanding the rules and chances of the game of Higurashi, and the latter has Rika as a former existence and is the 'Witch of Miracles' - which can make a miracle happen as long as the possibility is higher than 0%
